Syrian Refugee Crisis - Please Help

“We feel respected here as human beings. The aid makes a big difference. Our daughters can sleep and rest.”

Ayaat and her family spent 10 days travelling from Syria through Turkey and Greece to cross the border into the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia.

With no end in sight, they need your help.

In March 2011, civil war began in Syria and has never stopped since. Five years on, Syrians are becoming increasingly vulnerable as their savings are depleted and their assets liquidated, Half of the population is now dependent on humanitarian aid. Eight million are displaced within the country and over four million have fled.

Besides the Syrians, there are  many families fleeing conflict and poverty in the rest of Middle East and North Africa. From Iraq to Afghanistan, hundreds of thousands of people, are resorting to extreme measures to find a better tomorrow in Europe and elsewhere.

The risks these refugees face are great, and sometimes fatal.

Shocking images in the media have revealed desperate scenes of families who have lost their loved ones. A recent report says 2,000 Syrians trying to reach Europe have drowned in the Mediterranean Sea. But behind the statistics and stories are lives.

On this perilous journey towards a better future, we can at least help with the most basic of things. Water, food, hygiene items, clothing, sleeping bags, blankets, temporary shelter and basic healthcare are essential to rescuing people from the depths of their struggle.
